Audio description (AD) is a free service that can transform the enjoyment of television programmes and films for people with sight loss.

Audio description explains what is happening on the screen, like a narrator telling a story, it describes body language, expressions and movements.

Audio description (AD) logo

Audio description logo can be used to convey that a product or a service is available to use with the audio description track.

It is widely used in theatres, cinemas, on digital television devices, DVD and Blu-ray discs, and other published material.

The logos are available to download in various formats and sizes, as well as horizontal or vertical versions.

Using the audio description logo

The use of audio description logo on promotional and point of sale materials offers consumers an easily identifiable way of finding suitable equipment to deliver AD.

Many digital television products and/ or their packaging carry the audio description (AD) logo to convey that the product is set up to deliver AD.

The logo can be used on its own or as a part of the digital tick score board obtainable from Digital UK.

It is a useful tool to increase sales of AD enabled equipment and services by simplifying the customer experience.

The audio description logo is currently being used by:

  • Digital television manufacturers
  • Set top box manufacturers
  • Retailers
  • Venues - theatres, cinemas and other similar sites
  • Information boards around cinemas and theatres
  • Information leaflets
  • Websites - cinemas, theatres, advocacy and information websites
