Throughout September, to mark National Eye Health Week, RNIB and Specsavers will be taking to some of the UK’s busiest high streets to encourage shoppers to look after their eyes by having regular sight tests.
Throughout the month, RNIB and Specsavers will be visiting 11 cities with the Eye Pod, a mobile sight simulator that allows shoppers to experience what it is like to have four most common causes of sight loss in the UK - Glaucoma, Cataracts, Diabetic Eye Disease and Age Related Macular Degeneration.
The Eye Pod uses a periscope to allow visitors to see the outside world and electronic screens to simulate each eye condition. RNIB and Specsavers staff manning the Pod will be able to answer eye health questions and give information about sight tests.
The month-long activity is part of National Eye Health Week, which will take place from 18 to 24 September.
