We provide a range of social work and other support services for blind and partially sighted people. The services provided vary in different parts of the country.
Edinburgh and the Lothians
Our RNIB Edinburgh and Lothians section provides an assessment and care management service for blind and partially sighted children and adults on behalf of the local authorities in Edinburgh, Midlothian and East Lothian (West Lothian provides its own services in this particular field). Our rehabilitation team also provides specialist assessment, training, information and advice about mobility, communication, independent living skills and low vision assessments.
Nationally, our Visual Impairment, Learning Disability and Complex Needs Service provides a range of support across the UK for service-users, parents and carers of people with a learning disability and sight loss, and support professionals and organisations working with them.
Help with coming to terms with sight loss
Our Vision Support Services also offer practical and emotional support to people diagnosed with sight loss. Currently we have Vision Support Services in Ayrshire and Arran, Edinburgh and the Lothians, Glasgow, Scottish Borders, Shetland and Tayside.
