RNIB Pears Centre for Specialist Learning

We offer individually-tailored education, care and therapies to children and young people with multiple disabilities and complex health needs who are blind or partially sighted, from pre-school up to the age of 19. Our specialist school and centre is based in Coventry, North Warwickshire.

Specialist services for children and young people

For children and young people with multiple disabilities and complex health needs and visual impairments we offer:

“Outstanding” school and children’s home

Our school and children’s home at RNIB Pears Centre are both graded “Outstanding” by Ofsted. Our nursing care for children with additional medical needs is also fully compliant with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards.

Name change from Rushton

We were previously known as RNIB Rushton School and Children's Home. Our name changed to RNIB Pears Centre for Specialist Learning in 2011 as part of a major redevelopment and in recognition of the exceptional support of Pears Foundation.

Our redevelopment is one of RNIB’s most ambitious projects ever, creating our fully-accessible school, bungalows, gardens and outdoor play areas.
