Long canes
A long cane should reach between the sternum (breastbone) and under the chin, when standing upright and the cane tip is touching the ground. The length and speed of walking stride can affect the length of the cane required. Long canes should only be used by people who have attended specialist training with a rehab worker or mobility trainer to attain a high level of safe and independent travel. Long canes are made from aluminium or lightweight graphite and can be folded into sections for easier storage or in one single length. They come with a variety of tips in polymer or metal.
We offer a "special order" service for canes if you'd like a different colour, a different tip to standard or a different handle. Colours available in reflective 3M tape include: yellow, pink, white, blue, black, white and red, white and yellow, white with two red stripes, white and blue. Special orders cannot be returned unless faulty and take up to four weeks for delivery.
