ABRSM musical instrument memory tests
These tests are for blind and partially sighted candidates, as an alternative to the standard sight-reading tests. Following an extensive consultation process and a pilot project involving a wide range of stakeholders, the tests have been carefully written to provide a similar challenge and level of demand to the Associated Board's standard sightreading tests. They receive the same marks and are assessed in the same way.
For the braille-memory test, the candidate is given a short piece of braille music to learn in a set amount of time, after which he or she must perform it to the examiner.
