Technology and Digital Skills Support

Could you help people with sight loss make the most of everyday technology?

Our Technology Support Squad help to set up computers, tablets, smartphones and TVs, they also solve IT problems and help people get online. IT experts are welcome, but you don't have to be a tech guru to be a valuable volunteerIf you have plenty of patience, love talking to people and are IT confident, we'd love your help.

Things you might help with

  • Identifying and fixing computer problems
  • Showing people different options for getting online
  • Setting up devices and equipment
  • Helping people to install hardware, software and upgrades
  • Supporting people with sight loss in their own homes, at events or remotely through web applications

What skills and experience we're looking for?

  • An interest in IT and technology
  • Friendliness, enthusiasm and patience
  • Good at identifying problems and finding solutions

What support will you be given?

  • Induction and Training- Understanding sight loss course, and training with accessibility features of devices
  • Expenses - We cover travel and all reasonable costs you might incur
  • Regular updates - We'll update you about what's going on in the rest of the organisation and about new roles
  • Support from Staff and other volunteers 
  • Ongoing learning and engagement opportuntities

When will you be needed?

Flexible - We'll factor in any other commitments you have and work around that.

How often will you be needed?

Around four hours per month
