Museums and galleries

We can provide information and advice to museum and gallery professionals on how to make your collections and venue more accessible.

We can also offer training for your staff and advice on how to promote your services to people with sight problems. Please email emma.lincoln@rnib.org.uk to discuss issues in your organisation.

We completed a research project, the Talking Images project, exploring the use of audio description in the sector, the findings of which may be of use to you.

Theatre/music venues

We provide information and advice on how to make theatres and music venues accessible for visitors with a sight problem.

We can advise on producing accessible literature, ticket schemes, providing an audio description service, pre-show touch tours, and the provision of an accessible building environment. RNIB can also provide visual awareness training for venue staff.

Sport and leisure industry

We offer advice and information on how to make leisure and sports venues more accessible to blind and partially sighted people, for example, providing information in accessible formats.

Activate is an access scheme specifically for gyms and leisure centres. We have developed a comprehensive training programme for gym staff and leisure centre workers.

The training sessions offer participants a unique opportunity to learn practical skills to meet the needs of disabled people with a special focus on blind and partially sighted people.

Broadcasting

RNIB works with the broadcasting industry to make television accessible to blind and partially sighted people.

We can offer advice to the industry on all aspects of making programmes and television technology easier for people with a sight problem to view and use.
