Blind and partially sighted people are able to excel in the vast majority of occupations. Even if there are barriers to aspects of a job there is usually equipment or support that can help overcome them. As an employer you need to set aside assumptions about what blind and partially sighted people can’t do and give them the opportunity to prove what they can do.

- Work Matters DVD - This DVD shows that having a sight problem need not be a barrier to achieving success at work. A number of blind and partially sighted people and their manager show they undertake the tasks of their jobs. The DVD is useful as a training and induction tool for managers.

Michael's story - by the time Michael was 23 he had lost his sight. After gaining new skills and a period of unemployment, he now works as a presenter on Insight Radio. “Working for Insight Radio has increased my confidence and skills. It’s great to be working for a radio station that reduces isolation and helps to create a sense of community for blind and partially sighted people.” Michael's full story
