Summary: Links to useful music related organisations.

A few organisations offer help with employment in music to people with disabilities. Here are some of them:

  • The Musicians Benevolent Fund gives help and support to musicians and their dependants who are in need as a result of "illness, accident or other misfortune". It also offers education awards to outstanding musicians.
  • The Musicians Union is the only trade union for musicians in the UK. It covers all areas of music. It lobbies on behalf of musicians and offers information on employment to instrumentalists, performers, and music teachers. The Musicians' Union also offers legal advice, for example reading through contracts.
  • Musicians in Focus provides music technology assessments, advice and support for visually impaired musicians. It also offers training and workshops for teachers and other professionals.
  • The Prince's Trust has a scheme for people aged 18 - 30 who want to set up their own business, including in the music industry.
