About the RNIB Box
The RNIB has a box at the world-famous concert venue, the Royal Albert Hall in London. The box is in the second tier and seats five people, two at the front, two on a higher level and one at the back, and is for the use of people with serious sight problems.
Cost of tickets
Tickets for the RNIB Box cost £12.50 each.
How to get tickets
If you have a serious sight problem, you can apply to use the RNIB Box at our subsidised price. Contact the RNIB Royal Albert Hall Box service at royalalberthall@rnib.org.uk, or telephone 020 7391 2063. Tell us the number of tickets required and give your full contact details. These will be recorded and the names entered on a waiting list. Please book early, as places are very limited.
What if I can't get tickets?
- If you are unsuccessful in getting a ticket for your chosen concert from the RNIB, the Royal Albert Hall offers two tickets for the price of one to disabled people who require an assistant companion (limited availability).

Terms and conditions
- Tickets are allocated at least two weeks before the event (or earlier where possible), and applicants told whether or not they have been successful. For oversubscribed events, we will normally give priority to new users and those who have used the box the least in preceding months, but where necessary a ballot will be held.
- The RNIB is a member of the Royal Albert Hall. This entitles us to tickets for the majority of events held there. For each event we aim to fill the five seats, and to ensure that at least two of them are occupied by blind or partially sighted people.
- The Royal Albert Hall does not allow food and drink to be taken into the Hall, but provides a variety of catering facilities, including advance booking for box catering. Please see "At the Hall - Access and Facilities" for details.
Payments and refunds
After the tickets have been dispatched, you will receive an invoice for the tickets from RNIB Peterborough, to whom payment should be made by card, direct debit, cheque or postal order. Customer and invoice reference numbers must be written on the reverse side of cheques and postal orders. Please note that we cannot exchange or refund tickets.
Finding out what's on
Listings for all Royal Albert Hall (RAH) events are available from a variety of sources, such as the RAH Box Office (telephone 020 7589 8212) and the Royal Albert Hall website. If you join our mailing list, you'll be sent listings every two months. For example, the concert listings for March and April are sent out in January.
The Proms at the Royal Albert Hall
The annual BBC Proms season runs from July to September. To order a prospectus in braille or on CD, ring RNIB Customer Services on 0845 702 3153 or 01733 37 53 50. You can obtain it on tape from the BBC by calling 020 7765 3260. We produce a free summary in large print, which only gives the dates, performers and composers. For a copy, please email royalalberthall@rnib.org.uk or ring 020 7391 2063.
At the Hall - access and facilities
Access to the RNIB Box is by stairs from Door 9 or lift from Door 8, both of which have ramps. For those with seats elsewhere in the Hall, Doors 1, 3 and 12 also have ramped access and Door 1 has a lift.
Programmes
The Hall encourages promoters to produce these in large print, but provision of this facility cannot be guaranteed. Please contact the Access Line on 020 7838 3110 or email access@royalalberthall.com at least five working days in advance of the performance. During the Proms, a programme reading service is available from the stewards at Door 6. For other events, it may also be possible to provide this service if you call the Access Line in advance.
Audio Introduction and Description
All Proms feature Audio Introduction. Some other events are preceded by Audio Description. In both cases, you can get a headset from the information desk at Door 6 without prior notice. The sound enhancement is transmitted via one channel and the Audio Introduction, Audio Description and Radio 3 commentary via the other channel.
Guide Dogs
The RNIB Box can accommodate guide dogs. If a seat elsewhere in the hall is unsuitable for a guide dog to remain with the owner, you can leave the dog with a cloakroom steward.
Cloakrooms
These are located at ground, basement and circle levels. Cloakrooms are free of charge.
Restaurants and Bars
These are all wheelchair accessible. Large print menus are available. Menus can also be downloaded from the website.
Facilities for hearing impaired customers
Both counters at the Box Office have loop systems. The auditorium has an infrared-assisted hearing system.
Refreshments in the Box
You can enjoy food and drinks in any box. For enquiries and bookings, please contact Box Catering on 020 7589 5666 or boxcatering@royalalberthall.com.
Access Facilities for Disabled People
- Free car parking (ten spaces) is available by Door 8, which has ramped access. Priority is given to wheelchair users before other blue badge holders.
- As a disabled person, you can also join an Access List. This means you will be provided with suitable seating when you contact the box office at the Hall.
