About Techshare 2004

Techshare 2004 was a great success when it was held last year in November at Jury’s Inn in Birmingham. The event attracted around 300 delegates from about 17 countries and was supported by various disability organisations and sponsored by some well known technology companies.

As well as the latest developments in technology for blind and partially sighted people, presentations covered various areas of technology including: innovation in education, IT training in practice, technology in the workplace, real life technology, broadcasting and publishing, the accessible web and mobile technology.

Sue's story - In her 30s, Sue went to A&E after her cat scratched her eye. The doctor advised that she was at risk of contracting glaucoma and should have yearly eye tests once 40. At 50 she was referred to a consultant who diagnosed glaucoma. She has now received successful treatment and her sight has not been affected. Sue's full story.
