Magazines for UK customers

Summary: Information about our magazines available in braille, large print, audio and electronically.

This information is for UK customers only. A separate web page is available for customers who are based overseas.

About our magazines

We have an extensive choice of magazines catering for a variety of customers including titles specifically for children, journals for professionals and numerous leisure magazines.

Whether you're interested in music, current affairs, health, relationships, books, puzzles or parenting, we have a magazine to suit you. We publish in a range of accessible formats from grade 2 braille to email - please check each magazine for details. Unless otherwise stated, all magazines are available to order through RNIB on 0303 123 9999.

How we produce the magazines

Our dedicated editors wade through miles of newsprint and pore over pages of magazine articles to produce more than 20 monthly magazines, plus several bi-monthly and quarterly titles, covering a wide range of topics.

You might think we're exaggerating the number of newspapers and magazines we get through to produce our titles - but we're not!

Every day we draw on our years of journalism experience as we search through a range of national newspapers, from The Times and Independent, to the Daily Mail and Daily Express, for up-to-date stories and features. We also cherry-pick the best articles from top-selling magazines like FHM, Cosmopolitan, Q, New Scientist, Parenting and Pregnancy, What Hi-Fi?, Computer Shopper, Bliss, Sugar and Men's Health.

Then we hit the Internet to find the best blogs and news sites too. Finally we choose the best of the best to produce our magazines.

We also welcome feedback from our readers. If you have any suggestions or you would like to send a letter, or even submit an article for publication in one of our magazines, please email RNIB's Editorial Department.

This information also includes useful links of other organisations that produce magazines for people with sight problems and those with other disabilities.

Variety of formats

Braille magazines are produced in Grade 2, Standard English braille, unless specified otherwise.

Email magazines are sent as both ASCII and HTML text, so are accessible on a variety of equipment.

Audio cassette magazines are small compact cassettes and are generally 2-track normal speed and compatible with most cassette players.

Large print magazines are in minimum size 16 point font.

Daisy magazines are supplied on compact disc and can be read using a Daisy player or via Daisy software on your PC.

Audio CD magazines are supplied on standard audio CD and can be read on any standard CD player or Daisy player.
