Volunteering
Over 3000 volunteers help us provide many vital services that enable people with sight problems to live independently and tackle every day challenges.
Volunteers work with us to support blind and partially sighted people in a variety of locations across the UK. We have over 100 different volunteering roles available which can be done from home, based at an RNIB office or out and about in the community.
"I really enjoy meeting new people and this is a great way of doing that. I now know lots of people in my community as well as RNIB staff and other volunteers. It also gives you a good feeling when you know that you are doing something positive for others."
Ian, volunteer
Majid is a partially sighted customer of RNIB's IT Home Visiting service, "I am very pleased with this service, your volunteers have been able to solve problems that I could not, they deserve a medal. I just wouldn’t be able to manage without the help of RNIB volunteers."
All of our volunteers receive on-going support, guidance and training from their designated manager. They also receive 'Connect', a bimonthly magazine, to keep them in touch with RNIB and volunteering news.

Lindsay's story - Lindsay works for RNIB. She decided to volunteer on children's vacation schemes as an opportunity to see how her work supports blind and partially sighted people. "One of the best parts is watching the children and young people challenge themselves. I really look forward to my volunteering as it is so different from my general work and life."
