Report reveals voters with sight loss with sight loss disadvantaged at polls
RNIB Scotland has published a report on the experiences of blind and partially sighted people at the May 2007 elections in Scotland. The 'Make it Count' report calls for wide ranging changes in future elections.
Manifesto for the Scottish Parliament Election
RNIB Scotland published a Manifesto in advance of the 2007 Scottish Parliament Elections.
RNIB Scotland has six campaign priorities
- Eliminating avoidable sight loss
- Improving access to health and social care
- Improving access to information and information systems
- Increasing employment among blind and partially sighted people
- Increasing income for blind and partially sighted people
- Improving access to television, audio visual culture and lifelong learning.
RNIB Scotland also campaigns on a variety of other issues as they arise.
At the UK level, RNIB Scotland works alongside RNIB’s national campaigns.
RNIB Scotland and the Scottish parliament
RNIB Scotland is an active participant in the Cross-party Group in the Scottish Parliament on Visual Impairment.
RNIB Scotland produced a Scottish Political Manifesto (Word 34k) for the Scottish Parliament elections in 2003. It lists policy objectives promoting the interests and wellbeing of blind and partially sighted people.
