At RNIB, we believe that we have so much to be proud of…
We have a great pioneering heritage and we make a difference to people's live today. With a clear direction shaped by our members and blind and partially sighted people, we're ready to take on the next challenge.
But we know that so much more needs to be done…
It's outrageous that people are needlessly losing their sight and that people with sight problems are not getting support to achieve independence. They are not getting the education, jobs and income they deserve and there is limited access to culture and information.
We're ambitious for the future…
We're passionate about creating widespread and lasting change built on a clear set of challenging goals. Achieving this will require a step change in the attitude and actions of society as a whole, to create a world where blind and partially sighted people are fully included.
But we can't get there on our own…
By learning from blind and partially sighted people, working with our partners to influence and campaign for positive change and setting standards through excellent services, we'll encourage others to work with us and to lead and support progress.
With everyone playing their part…
Focusing on the needs of our customers and members, encouraging greater take-up of RNIB services, championing our cause and what we believe in – with staff, managers, donors, volunteers and partners all working together.
We'll create widespread and lasting change
We are a charity with a strong purpose in a sector united in ending exclusion, proud of the part we continue to play in preventing unnecessary blindness, in supporting blind and partially sighted people today and empowering more independent lives tomorrow.
RNIB's vision is a world in which blind and partially sighted people enjoy the same rights, freedoms, responsibilities and quality of life as people who are fully sighted and one in which no-one needlessly loses their sight.
RNIB's Ambition stories
We have four videos featuring people explaining how sight loss has affected their lives and how RNIB has supported them. These real-life examples bring our Ambition to life and help to illustrate the impact RNIB has on people's lives.

Jill's story - Jill lost her sight 12 years ago at the age of 19. “The experience left me feeling isolated. I often felt like my life was pointless." Now, as a presenter on Insight Radio, she uses her experiences to help others. “My prayer is that what we do helps those who are going through sight loss. Even the tiniest piece of information can make a huge difference. If my show can help do that, then my journey has not been in vain.” Jill's full story
