RNIB React

Summary: Talking sign system to help people get around more easily.

What is it for?

RNIB React is the talking sign system that helps blind and partially sighted people to find their way around safely and independently.

RNIB React has been successfully installed in town and city centres around the UK. It is highly effective in train and bus stations and can be linked to Real Time Information boards.

How does it work?

Speaker units are set up around the chosen area. Individuals carry a key fob-type trigger device, which activates the speaker unit when within range.

The audio message given out helps users to confirm their location and orientate themselves with their surroundings.

How can I get RNIB React in my area?

We often work with a local project team consisting of the local authority, local access groups and the retailers or transport companies involved too.

You will also need to decide who will take ownership of the project, and how it will be funded.

If you already have a project team or want to find out more, then please contact RNIB Business Development to discuss your needs.

Is there an RNIB React system near me?

RNIB React systems can already be found in many town and city centres including:

Are you doing your Disability Equality Duty?

RNIB React can help public bodies to fulfil Disability Equality Duty responsibilities.

This legal duty requires all public bodies to actively look at ways of ensuring that disabled people are treated equally.

By installing RNIB React you will help to make your town or city more open for people who would otherwise have trouble with getting around due to sight loss.

RNIB React and Real Time Information

If you are a transportation provider, then you are probably involved in Real Time Information Systems. To discuss how RNIB React can have a positive impact on your Real Time Information projects, please contact RNIB Business Development.
