Debt advice
Summary: Advice service for people with serious sight problems and money worries.

RNIB has entered into partnership with Citizen Advice Bureau (CAB) called 'Face-to-face' to improve the supply of face-to-face debt advice to people with sight problems.
Many people have difficulty managing their money and, increasingly, are finding themselves in debt or at risk of being in debt. Almost everyone owes money – bills are a fact of life but sometimes you may feel that you are swamped and can’t see a way of paying them all. The worst thing you can do is to ignore the problem - it won’t just go away.
If you or someone you know has a sight problem and money worries then RNIB, in partnership with CAB, may be able to help. Our partnership covers ten areas across England:
- Gateshead
- Bradford
- Sheffield
- Rotherham
- Greater Manchester
- Liverpool
- Stoke-on-Trent
- Wolverhampton
- Walsall
- Greater London.

If you live and work in one of these areas, RNIB can make an appointment for you with a CAB money advisor. Money advisors may also be able to visit you in your home. If you do not live or work in one of the ten areas listed above, we may still be able to help or can tell you about local money advice services.
If have any money advice enquiries or would like to make an appointment with one of the CABs named above please contact Venitia Stoby on 0845 330 4897 or debtadvice@rnib.org.uk

Jenny's story - Jenny Burgess volunteered for a disability support group run by people with physical disabilities. She was the only staff member with a sight problem. “I depended on a colleague with physical disabilities to give me a lift to work. I have far greater mobility problems than most people with physical disabilities who can drive a car, yet receive less benefit - it’s unfair and unjust.” Join our campaign to make the mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance fair - taken for a ride.
