The RNIB Vision project

Summary: RNIB's new Vision School and Children's Home.

The RNIB Vision projectThe objective is to provide exceptional education and care for blind and partially sighted children with severe disabilities and complex needs.

The existing school provides specialist education and residential care for young people aged 11-19 who are blind or partially sighted and have multiple disabilities. The current buildings are no longer fit for purpose by modern standards and too small to cope with the growing demand for places.

The new Vision School and Children's HomeThe new Vision School and Children's Home will create an additional 35 school places and 41 residential places for some of the country's most disadvantaged young people. It will be an exemplar provision in its field, promoting best practice and learning in this type of specialist care and education of young people throughout the UK and beyond.

This new high profile development offers plenty of opportunities for local and national companies to get involved and become partners of a project unique in the UK and Europe. You can play a role and help us build a better future for these children, associate your brand with a model of sustainability and ensure a positive and substantial impact on the local economy and local employment (creation of more than 200 new posts). Rushton Vision will offer business benefits to your company and we would work with you to develop a long-term and strategic partnership.

What our supporters say…

“Rushton makes a real difference, not just to the lives of the children it cares for but for the 200 people it will create new jobs for, the companies that will supply this multi-million pound project and everyone who comes into contact with this huge undertaking. That is why we will work with RNIB to ensure its success.”

Darren Jones, President Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce

“Having met some of the children and their teachers, I know just how important the Vision School is. It will be a lifesaver, a life creator, for the children and their families, and all Coventry should be proud to have such a world-class facility enhancing our city.”

Richard Field, Head of Communications, Coventry Building Society

Jill's story - Jill lost her sight 12 years ago at the age of 19. “The experience left me feeling isolated. I often felt like my life was pointless." Now, as a presenter on Insight Radio, she uses her experiences to help others. “My prayer is that what we do helps those who are going through sight loss. Even the tiniest piece of information can make a huge difference. If my show can help do that, then my journey has not been in vain.” Jill's full story
