Finding your Feet
Summary: How RNIB helps people deal with the wrenching changes that sight loss brings
Thank you for visiting our Finding your Feet appeal page.
"Before I came to Finding your Feet, I really feared I had nothing left to live for. Now, I feel like I'm back in control of my life. I couldn't have done it without RNIB. Thank you so very much."

RNIB's Finding your Feet programme is a three day course that offers invaluable help to people struggling to cope when their life is turned upside down by sight loss. The programme offers practical advice and emotional support to help deal with the wrenching changes that losing your sight brings.
With your support, we can help people find hope for their future
Thanks to people like you, our Finding your Feet weekends give blind and partially sighted people a chance to get away from their home to somewhere they can feel safe and meet others who are experiencing the same challenges as them.
Experts from RNIB offer practical advice on gadgets and clever ways to make the most of any eyesight people have left. And we give people the chance to talk about how they feel – often for the first time – and to share ways they’ve learned to cope.
"Just talking about it was a help. You can learn so much from other people but it's only through RNIB that I've ever had the chance to meet people who really understand."
People arrive quiet and fearful, then leave with new ways to cope, new confidence, new friendships and new hope. It’s amazing to be able to help people get their lives back like this.
RNIB’s Finding your Feet weekends are one of the desperately few places blind and partially sighted people can turn for support. There are so many people out there struggling on their own, but right now we just can’t afford to reach them. With your support we can help these people find their feet.

"I was terrified when my sight went. I was on my own and it was such a struggle to get by. Without Finding your Feet, I just don’t know what I would have done. Now I feel like I’ve got a whole new lease of life."

Jill's story - Jill lost her sight 12 years ago at the age of 19. “The experience left me feeling isolated. I often felt like my life was pointless." Now, as a presenter on Insight Radio, she uses her experiences to help others. “My prayer is that what we do helps those who are going through sight loss. Even the tiniest piece of information can make a huge difference. If my show can help do that, then my journey has not been in vain.” Jill's full story
