Congratulations to our team of RNIB fundraisers who recently completed this cycling challenge to raise much-needed funds for our work.
This challenge links two great European cities, London and Paris, covering around 300km in just three days. Cycling through beautiful English countryside, historic towns, sleepy Normandy villages, and experiencing gorgeous views of the French rural landscape. It was a unique opportunity to discover the culture and cuisine of these grand neighbouring countries.

Itinerary 29 June – 2 July 2007
Day one - London to Dieppe
Starting early, we cycle through built up inner city streets moving to pretty and rural countryside. After a day’s riding we arrive in Newhaven to board a ferry to France.
(90 km approx.)
Day two - Dieppe to Beauvais
After a hearty breakfast, we set off through Dieppe, an old fashioned port town nestled between two limestone cliffs. We head through the stunning Normandy countryside, passing through typical French villages. After lunch in the village of Torcy le Grand, our last stretch of cycling is adorned with beautiful views of Saint Aubert-en-Bray and Onse-en- Bray. We arrive late afternoon at Beauvais.
(114km approx.)
Day three - Beauvais to Eiffel Tower

Following the river Therain, we cycle through an area of rolling hills surrounded by fields and forests. Our surroundings start to change as we enter the suburbs of Paris. Riding through the wide Parisian boulevards, we celebrate the end of the ride at the Eiffel Tower. Tonight we toast our achievement with a glass of wine at a celebratory meal.
(70km approx.)
Day four - Paris to London
A free morning can be spent exploring Paris before we catch the Eurostar back to London in the afternoon.

Jill's story - Jill lost her sight 12 years ago at the age of 19. “The experience left me feeling isolated. I often felt like my life was pointless." Now, as a presenter on Insight Radio, she uses her experiences to help others. “My prayer is that what we do helps those who are going through sight loss. Even the tiniest piece of information can make a huge difference. If my show can help do that, then my journey has not been in vain.” Jill's full story
