Welcome to our programme of training and development opportunities for the health and social care sector for 2008-2009. These key events and courses are available across the UK.

Our training aims to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding of professionals working in rehabilitation, health and social care. It promotes best practice in meeting the needs of people who are blind or partially sighted, including those with additional disabilities or health conditions.

Where applicable, our courses are aligned to standards of relevant National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) and post-qualifying awards.

Eye Clinic Support Studies course
Accredited four-day course for eye clinic and related staff to equip them to address the emotional and practical needs of patients/clients following a diagnosis of permanent sight loss. Apply now!

Our courses and seminars are led by experienced trainers from either optical, rehabilitation or care service backgrounds.

Course format

Open courses

For individuals or small number applications, training events usually take place at RNIB establishments around the UK. Please see the appropriate page for dates and locations. Where dates are to be confirmed, please contact us to register your interest.

Unless otherwise stated, open course places cost £100 per delegate (includes lunch and refreshments). There is a limit of 16 delegates for most training events. Delegates will receive a certificate of attendance on completion of each full day.

Inhouse training

We can deliver the above courses on an inhouse basis for organisations, providing a cost effective way to develop your team or organisation.

These courses which are purchased by organisations take place at a location their choice and filled with their own delegates.

Unless otherwise stated, inhouse courses are charged at £650 per day for up to 16 people.

Customised training

We can also provide customised training to suit the specific needs of your service or agency. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Lyn

Lyn's story - After great personal difficulties, Lyn decided to undertake a serious challenge to raise money for RNIB - a trek along the Great Wall of China. "We found out about RNIB and realised that its work is very worthwhile. The trip itself was life changing for me." Lyn's full story
