Supernova workshop: supporting users of Supernova access technology software

Course description

Increasing numbers of employers, schools, colleges, universities and libraries are using Supernova to enable computer access for learners and service users who are blind or partially sighted.

This practical one-day workshop is aimed at people who support or assist computer users who are blind or partially sighted, using Supernova software. The course will show you how to use Supernova in a variety of situations, such as word processing and using the internet. It will include training in the very latest features.

During the workshop, all delegates will be provided with a PC running Supernova with internet access.

Learning objectives

At the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

1. use magnification access for a person who is partially sighted

2. alter colour schemes to enhance contrast levels on computer monitors

3. use a computer without using the mouse

4. understand Supernova and the internet - virtual focus.

Who should attend?

The workshop is aimed at anyone who assists, teaches or trains computer users who are blind and partially sighted. Some prior knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office software is expected and recommended to obtain the most from the day.
