Helping you deliver your message
Our service
We can provide information in the following formats:
- audio – cassette, CD, CD-ROM, Daisy CD
- braille
- computer disk
- large print
- Moon
- tactile diagrams
Our clients
Our clients include individuals, charities, businesses and government agencies. We work with people who:
- are unable to access normal printed material because of a sight problem.
- want to make their own material more widely accessible to clients, customers and staff.
Costs
Our service is free to individuals, but we do have a pricing system for organisations. Please contact us for details.
For braille, large print and Moon, it is helpful if you can provide the document in an electronic form (such as on disk or in an email). This makes the price lower and the turnaround time faster.
DAISY technology
DAISY is a CD based portable technology which provides a high level of rapid navigation and which can deliver information audibly and visually at the same time. It can be used at school or home and allows blind and partially sighted pupils to have access to the same materials as their sighted colleagues, at the same time. The technology has the advantage of being inclusive and can be used alongside sighted students.
RNIB Scotland secured Scottish Executive funding for an expanded trial of the innovative in schools colleges and universities. DAISY enables blind and partially sighted students to read the same books at the same time as their sighted classmates.
National Educational Transcription Service
The outcome of the trial has been published as a report ‘If I can’t read it, I can’t learn it’ which also calls for the setting up of a national educational transcription service.
Volunteering
You can help as a volunteer at the Transcription Centre.

Jill's story - Jill lost her sight 12 years ago at the age of 19. “The experience left me feeling isolated. I often felt like my life was pointless." Now, as a presenter on Insight Radio, she uses her experiences to help others. “My prayer is that what we do helps those who are going through sight loss. Even the tiniest piece of information can make a huge difference. If my show can help do that, then my journey has not been in vain.” Jill's full story
