Overview and objectives

This practical workshop introduces the forthcoming guidelines for web accessibility, the Web Accessibility Content Guidelines 2.0 (WCAG 2.0). It highlights the main reasons for the update to recommendations, and identifies the main differences between this and the current version of the guidelines.

The workshop contains useful references to key parts of the WCAG 2.0 guideline documentation, explains how these relate to one another and suggests a workable strategy for progressively incorporating the new guidelines into your websites.

  • Suitable for: This workshop is aimed at web managers, designers and developers, who have been working with WCAG 1.0 when managing or maintaining a website and wish to start using WCAG 2.0.
  • Prerequisites: Knowledge of WCAG 1.0, managing and maintaining accessible websites.

  • the benefits of transitioning to WCAG 2.0
  • the differences between WCAG 1.0 and 2.0
  • new terms in WCAG 2.0
  • what's new in WCAG 2.0
  • scripting, AJAX and WCAG 2.0
  • how to use WCAG 2.0: key documents and resources.

Note: This course runs on the same day as hidden barriers to web accessibility. If delegates attend both courses, lunch will be provided and the total cost reduced to £310.00 (a saving of £25.00).
