Building on the success of previous years, RNIB is working closely with other technology and disability organisations to create this year’s pan-disability event. These organisations are our Techshare 2007 Partners.

AbilityNet

AbilityNet AbilityNet focus on the issues surrounding IT for people with disabilities. They provide advice, fact sheets, assessments, training and assistive technology for people will all kinds of different disabilities. As well as consultancy and training on all aspects of accessible technology and websites for companies and organisations.

Action for Blind People

Action for Blind People enables blind and partially sighted people to transform their lives through work, housing, leisure and support. They offer a wide range of services to visually impaired people, their families, advocates, professionals and the general

Age Concern

Age Concern is the UK's largest organisation working for and with older people. Age Concern's work ranges from providing vital local services to influencing public opinion and government to promote the well-being of all older people. Every day they are in touch with thousands of older people from all kinds of backgrounds – enabling them to make more of life.

British Computer Association of the Blind (BCAB)

BCAB British Computer Association of the Blind is a self-help group of people with sight problems who use IT. Members range from experienced computer professionals, to people who are beginning to explore the use of IT for leisure, study or employment. BCAB also provide training courses.

Dyslexia Action

Dyslexia Action is a national charity and the UK's leading provider of services and support for people with dyslexia and literacy difficulties. They are specialists in assessment and tuition, and the largest supplier of teacher training in this field.

RNID

RNID is the largest charity working to change the world for the UK's 9 million deaf and hard of hearing people. They do this with the help of their members, by campaigning and lobbying, raising awareness of deafness and hearing loss, providing services and through social, medical and technical research.

Sense

Sense is the UK's largest organisation for children and adults who are deafblind or have associated disabilities. They also work with people with single sensory impairments and a wide range of other difficulties – including physical disabilities, learning disabilities, and challenging behaviour. They also offer training and other services related to deafblindness.

Your stories

Sue's story - In her 30s, Sue went to A&E after her cat scratched her eye. The doctor advised that she was at risk of contracting glaucoma and should have yearly eye tests once 40. At 50 she was referred to a consultant who diagnosed glaucoma. She has now received successful treatment and her sight has not been affected. Sue's full story.
