Campaigners from Barnsley have come together to improve the built environment for blind and partially sighted people as part of our ‘Who put that there!’ campaign.
The group has raised concerns about plans for shared space in the new public realm developments and the ever growing number of advertising boards obstructing the pavement which is presenting an obstacle course to local blind and partially sighted people.
The group met the Barnsley city centre manager to raise these concerns and invited her to undertake a blindfold walk, along with her team on 22 May. She accepted their challenge and will be taking part in the challenge in early July. We’ll be sure to let you know how the walk goes.
