If you're blind or partially sighted and need to get a coronavirus (COVID-19) test, we can help by providing you with the home test kit instructions in braille, audio (CD), or large print.
The two main tests are:
rapid lateral flow tests – these are usually for people who do not have symptoms, they give a quick result using a device similar to a pregnancy test
PCR tests – mainly for people with symptoms, they're sent to a lab to be checked
Both tests are free.
Other reasons to get tested include if you've been in close contact with someone who's tested positive.
You may also be asked to get tested before visiting a hospital for treatment or to undergo a procedure. Your healthcare professional will provide further information before you attend.
Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms or a positive test result should check the latest advice on the NHS website.
Start by ordering a test kit to either be collected from a pharmacy or delivered to your home. Call NHS 119 if you need any support ordering a kit or do not have an email address.
