After seven years of working in collaboration, the charities Action for Blind People and RNIB will join together as one charity under the RNIB name.
From 1 April 2017 Action for Blind People teams will fully merged with RNIB. The merger comes after customers say they’re confused by complexities in service delivery provided by Action for Blind People and RNIB.
As demand for the charities eye health and sight loss services has never been so high, to make things clearer and easier to understand, we’ve simplified our structure.
The merger will enable customers to get access to services wherever they are, rather than the postcode lottery that currently exists, and to connect with each other more effectively.
This will allow us to help more blind and partially sighted people by combining our services, knowledge and expertise within one charity. Action’s vital work will continue through RNIB.
What does this mean for Services?
Increasing the opportunities for people to receive and give support
We’re investing in more training for our teams so we do more for our customers
Customers will still be able to contact people at Action and RNIB in the same way you do now – emails and phone numbers are remaining the same for the time being
We will continue to work with our existing customers in the same way and will fulfil the programmes of support we have already begun
New customers will be invited to access all our services through the RNIB Helpline
Just like Action has up to now, RNIB will continue to provide information and support for anyone affected by sight loss across the UK
