Commenting on the news that Carwyn Jones AM has retained his position as First Minister of Wales, RNIB Cymru Director Ceri Jackson welcomed his leadership of the fifth assembly:

“Congratulations to Carwyn Jones on securing another term as First Minister.

“With five more people beginning to lose their sight every day in Wales, RNIB Cymru hopes that Carwyn holds true to his promise to tackle the failing system in our hospital eye clinics. No one should lose their sight because of cancelled or delayed appointments.

“We hope that he will put sight loss at the heart of this Assembly’s agenda and we look forward to working with his Government to improve the lives of the 110,000 blind and partially sighted people in Wales.”
