At RNIB Wavertree House in Hove (near Brighton), East Sussex, we offer specialist residential care tailored to your individual needs.
We aim to promote independence and a community feel, all in a beautiful and peaceful seaside setting.
Our aim is to make your transition in to our home as smooth as possible. All of our residents benefit from a tailored support plan, so you can be sure you will get the right level of care for your needs. Whether you choose to stay with us for respite, short-term care, or plan to stay with us for longer, your needs will be fully assessed and a care plan agreed.
For your leisure time, our social programmes are developed in conjunction with residents, so you can continue to do the things you enjoy. When it comes to meal times, our chefs are able to adapt our delicious menus to fit in with any individual requirements you may have.
We've been awarded the top rating for food hygiene: 5 stars (very good).
We are registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and are a Founder Member of The National Skills Academy for Social Care.
From 2014 to 2017 our service sat within a subsidiary of RNIB, named RNIB Charity. RNIB is in the process of restructuring to create a leaner, more efficient governance structure to equip us to deliver excellent services for blind and partially sighted people in years to come. As part of this process we have re-registered activities which are regulated by the CQC from RNIB Charity to RNIB.
In September 2017, we re-registered with CQC. At our last inspection in October 2018 we were rated as Good. We were rated Good for the following 5 areas: safe, caring, responsive, effective, well-led.
We are in the process of re-registering our activities with Ofsted and the Care Inspectorate in Scotland. Once these processes are complete the legal transfer of all people, activities, assets and liabilities from RNIB Charity to RNIB will take place.
Our new profile can be found on the CQC website.
