A team of volunteers from AIG’s Birmingham Service Centre spent the day gardening and helping out at Pears.
The benefits of a hydrotherapy pool are immeasurable to the children at RNIB Pears Centre, that's why we're trying to raise the money to build our own on-site pool.
August 2014 - 'The Orchard' is graded "Good" in its first Ofsted inspection for its specialist early years education for young children with a range of physical, learning and sensory needs.
May 2014 - our children's home has retained its "outstanding" rating for the fourth consecutive year following a recent Ofsted inspection.
January 2014 - our high health service provides specialist nursing care for children and young people with life limiting and life threatening conditions. Following an unannounced Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection we achieved full Care Quality Compliance - the highest rating that can be awarded.
November 2013 - we teamed up with a TV production company to create “Melody”, a new series for the BBC's CBeebies channel.
October 2013 - our school has been awarded the gold standard Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM). The IQM is a standard for assessing schools against a nationally recognised framework on inclusion.
July 2013 – we have been presented with an award for Excellence in Environmental Improvement from The Bedworth Society.
March 2013 - we have achieved a second Ofsted "Outstanding" grading following a recent inspection of the school. This rating is in addition to the "Outstanding" grading of the children's home, which is regulated by Ofsted separately.
September 2012 - new purpose-built facilities for children and young people are officially opened by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal at RNIB Pears Centre for Specialist Learning in Coventry.
May 2012 - the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Coventry officially open the newly installed Chelsea Flower Show garden at RNIB Pears Centre for Specialist Learning.
December 2011 - RNIB Pears Centre for Specialist Learning has been awarded a prestigious Research Charter Mark by The Schools Network. The Research Charter Mark is a quality award for schools and academies who demonstrate the importance of enquiry-based teaching.
