At RNIB College Loughborough, we offer specialist support to young people and adults with vision impairment and additional disabilities.
We are a small, friendly college where each member of staff wants to support and empower each person to achieve their full potential.
Choose us for your Further Education and you’ll learn practical skills and gain work experience within our student-led enterprises:
You could also choose a course at our partner mainstream college, Loughborough College, located next door.
Our specialist support is personalised to suit your needs and abilities. We’ll offer you activities that will help you develop the skills you need, but are also challenging and fun! By working closely with you and your family, we’ll make sure you achieve your goals.
Our in-house team of therapists can help to boost your wellbeing, build your confidence and improve your access to curriculum and leisure activities.
If you need accommodation, our Stan Bell Centre offers modern purpose-built flats with en-suite bedrooms and shared living facilities. We offer a 24-hour service with waking night staff on hand to provide care if needed throughout the night.
We also offer Supported Internships. These are a great way for you to build your work experience and move into employment.
Supported Internships are term-time study programmes which mostly take place “on the job” within the workplace. The programme includes literacy, numeracy and communication study at College. You might also work towards work skills qualifications.
You will need an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) to undertake a Supported Internship as it is called a Further Education programme. Please contact us for more information.
If you are a young adult wanting to gain the skills and confidence to progress into independent or supported living, you may want to apply for our Bridge programme. It’s a one-year residential programme which will help you to build your independence. You’ll be encouraged and supported to do things you’ve previously had help for, making you ready to move into your own home.
Also on offer is Flexible Futures, our daytime activities programme. You could spend time in each of our different enterprises, providing a vital role in these real businesses and being part of college life. You could also go out and enjoy the local community.
You could even book a package of overnight stays to help build your independence.
We offer a range of other services too, including:
If there is something you need help with, or know someone who could benefit from our support, contact us to find out more.
