Our specialist school and residence is for blind and partially sighted children with significant learning difficulties and disabilities.
Based in Northwood, Middlesex, we offer a safe and supportive environment that helps children achieve their full potential.
We take children from the ages of two to 14. Our teaching team is highly skilled and qualified in working with children with visual impairments and a range of learning difficulties and disabilities.
We also work in alliance with The Eden Academy. This means we are part of a family of local special schools working together to share expertise and to offer children and families access to a greater range of activities and high quality resources.
Our school kitchen has been awarded the top rating for food hygiene - 5 stars (very good).
Our home is open to children from two to 16 years old, and children who don’t attend our school are also welcome to stay with us. We offer a range of flexible options for daycare, as well overnight and short stays. Find out more about Staying at Sunshine House.
Meet Hardeep and his 9 year old son Eshan in RNIB's new film introducing its specialist schools and residences for children and young people with vision impairment, complex needs and additional disabilities.
Hear Hardeep's own experience about how RNIB's education, care and therapies have helped his son who attended RNIB Sunshine House in North London and is now living and learning at RNIB Pears Centre in Coventry.
Parents and carers
We work closely with parents, carers and family members to ensure our children get the best chances to learn and develop. We have a dedicated page for our parents and carers here. Plus find out how you can get involved.
Whether your child is just a few months old or in primary school, our family services offer something for everyone. Our varied sessions include events involving all the family and sessions where children can be left in our care. Find out more about Play and support at Sunshine House.
It’s great when people recognise our dedication and commitment to our children. We’ve had some great feedback from Ofsted, following visits to both our school and home. Read our latest Ofsted reports.
We welcome visits and enquiries from parents, carers, children, other family members and professionals. You can phone us on 01923 82 25 38 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
