TechShare Pro, the UK’s biggest accessibility and inclusive design event, is back for its third year.

Organised by AbilityNet, Google will be hosting the London event, , on the 20 and 21 November and attendees from across the technology industry will come together to share the latest thinking about accessibility in their fields. As a Gold Partner, RNIB will be contributing to two of the panels on the themes of media accessibility.

In a panel on the future of audio description and video on-demand, chaired by Sonali Rai from RNIB, panellists from the BBC, ITV, Amazon UK and the University of York will discuss methods for introducing accessibility in popular entertainment services. They will also talk about user expectations, customer feedback and how to work collaboratively to ensure services are accessible.

There will also be a panel on Immersive Experiences where panellists from several organisations including BT Sports and Verizon Media will discuss how new technologies can be used to create multi-sensory user experiences. They will review developments in spatial audio, object-based audio in traditional TV broadcast, extended reality applications and the enhancements that these offer for people with hearing and/or sight loss.

This looks like it’s going to be a really exciting tech event with representatives from some of the most cutting-edge companies out there including Apple, Netflix, Sony and Uber as workshop hosts and panellists. Tickets for TechShare Pro 2019 are now sold out but you can find out more about the event on the AbilityNet website.
