People clapping and showing their appreciation

Find out what happened when a patient specifically requested to see Elaine.

I received a message from the Eye Clinic reception desk to come downstairs as a patient had requested to see me. This was Joan. Joan wanted to thank me personally for all the support, advice, referrals and registration I facilitated for her last year. She stated she’d completely changed since our first conversation. I listened to Joan and understood what she was telling me. At the time her mood was very low; she didn’t want to get up in the morning, and life felt like a mountain. I immediately made referrals to the sensory team, low vision and Stroke Association. From her low vision assessment, Joan felt her life changing and had purpose. She also requested I refer her for ‘Time to Talk’ and reports this has been very helpful. Joan has also managed to go on holiday thanks to her growing confidence. Joan feels so grateful she is making a donation to RNIB.
