Jim believes his smartphone is great for all his communications.
Being a relative newcomer to sight loss (I’m 65 and was registered severely sight impaired just over a year ago), the most important thing that has helped me cope is being able to get in touch with people and services through the internet. At home, I have been using a desktop PC for internet access for a few years. When I started having difficulty reading my mobile phone, I went on RNIB’s website for the first time to see what help I could get. After reading about smartphones in the technology section, I decided to get an iPhone. It was the best thing I’ve ever done. The accessibility features, including the magnifier and voiceover, are so good that I now seem to use it for almost all my communications. From phone calls, text messages, emails, the internet, to music and books. A great piece of technology!
