"I lost the sight in my left eye in 1991, but that didn’t stop me enjoying life and pursuing my love of gardening.

"But years later, I woke up and could no longer see anything. There was no warning, no gradual deterioration. My sight was gone forever. I was devastated and cut myself off from the world. But thanks to the support of RNIB I got my confidence back and rediscovered my love of gardening. Since I lost my sight I’ve achieved an NVQ in Horticulture, and I’ve been working with RNIB to raise awareness of the Community Garden that’s recently been on display at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show. My message to anyone who’s lost their sight is: don’t give up – with the right support you can continue to live your life to the full and find ways to still enjoy the hobbies you love."
