RNIB Volunteer Campaign Lead, Charlotte Proctor took West Yorkshire Police Crime Commissioner, Mark Burns-Williams on a blindfold walk across Leeds on 14 May to highlight the difficulties blind and partially sighted people face when getting out and about.
During the walk, Charlotte explained to Mark the difficulties she faces negotiating the route she takes to her local bus stop. Charlotte experiences many difficulties with wheelie bins and cars parked on pavements which obstruct her path and force her to walk out onto the road.
As a result of the blindfold walk, Mark Burns-Williams has offered to support Charlotte by writing to Leeds City Council and her local Neighbourhood police teams about the pavement obstructions.
Thank you to Mark for his support.
