Recycle for us

Printer Cartridges, Mobile Phones, MP3/iPods, CD and DVD recycling, be green and recycle for RNIB! Go green and recycle with RNIB to raise funds for blind and partially sighted people.

It's a simple way to raise funds for our work supporting blind and partially sighted people, while also helping to protect the environment, and it couldn't be easier to get involved.

The Recycling Appeal has been in partnership with RNIB since 2007, helping to raise vital funds through the recycling of used:

  • inkjet and toner cartridges
  • mobile phones
  • MP3 players
  • digital cameras
  • hand-held game consoles
  • CDs and DVDs
  • and satellite navigation systems.

We also recycle used stamps

Over the last seven years, an amazing £385,000 has been raised for RNIB from ink cartridge and mobile phone recycling - a figure that would not be achievable without RNIB supporters everywhere. Thank you.

Every time you donate a used printer cartridge we receive around £2 to help fund our vital work. We generally receive between £1 and £7 for mobile phones, sometimes as much as £30!

By recycling just 100 CDs RNIB can raise £50. With the rise of iTunes, digital music and downloads, many people have redundant CDs and DVDs lying around their home. If you would like to recycle your old CDs and unwanted DVDs please donate them to RNIB and we will use the funds raised to support blind and partially sighted people across the UK.

Get involved

Taking part in the scheme comes at no cost to you as all materials are provided free of charge.

You can request freepost RNIB envelopes or arrange for a free collection by simply:

Companies, schools and colleges

Companies, schools, colleges and other groups who have a large number of cartridges or mobile phones to recycle will receive a free collection as soon as you have a minimum of 10 items. We can provide posters to promote your appeal and encourage you to tell as many people as possible. Just store your items in an old box and get in touch when you’re ready for a collection – it’s that simple!

Recycling at home or in small organisations

If you do not have a large number of items to recycle we can provide you with a freepost envelope. These freepost bags are only suitable for small quantities and are ideal for home users. You can also print off our freepost label and send the goods back to us free of charge!

Box collections

When you are ready for a collection call us on 08451 30 20 10 and we will do the rest. Collections will usually be made within 48 hours of receipt of your request. Please note that all cartridges, phones and iPods should be packed in their original boxes or a suitable alternative so that they don't get damaged. Any SIM cards received will be securely destroyed.
