Welsh synthetic voices
Geraint and Gwyneth are Welsh language synthetic voices that can be used with assistive technology packages, like screen readers, to read aloud Welsh language digital content and documents.
We developed these voices with text-to-speech software company IVONA, thanks to funding from the Welsh Government.
The voices are available free to both individuals and organisations for non-commercial gain.
They can be used by educational professionals to support learners and by learners on their school and home devices. If you have a Hwb account you can download the voices directly from Hwb: Hwb - Download Welsh Synthetic Voices
These voices are compatible with Windows only. They are SAPI 5 voices and they work with any assistive package that can access the Windows native suite of voices. This includes: JAWS, NVDA, Supernova, Zoomtext, Read and Write, Clicker 8 and Tobii Dynavox.
