RNIB Scotland social and leisure groups

RNIB Scotland keeps people connected in many ways.

Many of the social and leisure groups started under RNIB's connect initiative and are continuing to run by phone or social media. They're free and open to anyone with sight loss.

Monday

  • 3pm - Glasgow Anderston Group - a group for people who live in the Anderston area of Glasgow. 

  • 3pm - Film Group - like a book club but with movies! A different selection of films each week, chosen by the group. If you like to talk about movies, then this one is for you.

  • 6pm - UK Accessible Book Group (with the Macular Society) - a UK-wide accessible book discussion group. 

 

Tuesday

  • 10am - Renfrew Group - a group for people who live in the Renfrew area.

  • 11am - General Discussion - talk about whatever comes to mind. From small talk to big conversations, you're free to discuss almost anything and everything.

  • 1pm - Football Group - tell the group about favourite games, teams, and players with other visually impaired people from across Scotland. All teams welcome, we don’t judge!

  • 2pm - EH12 Group - a group for people who live in the EH12 postcode area of Edinburgh. 

 

Wednesday

  • 11am - Campaigns Call - discussion about the hot topics affecting blind and partially sighted people. All you need to 'bring along' is your thoughts.

  • 11am - South Asian Peer Support Group - a peer support group for people from the South Asian community. 

  • 3pm - Glasgow East End Group - like-minded people from the city's East End chatting about all sorts. Why not join us for a blether?

  • 3pm - Connect Community Choir Group - who wants to sing in the rain when you can sing along at home on the telephone? Come join our choir.

 

Thursday

  • 11am - General Discussion - talk about whatever comes to mind. From small talk to big conversations, you're free to discuss almost anything and everything.

  • 1pm - Ayrshire Group - a group for people who live in the Ayrshire area. 

  • 2pm - Prestwick Book Group - a monthly book discussion group for people from the Prestwick area. 

  • 3pm - Forth Valley Group - a group for people who live in the Forth Valley area. 

  • 4pm - Quiz - a virtual pub quiz bringing together members to enjoy general knowledge and music questions.  

 

Friday

  • 2pm - Troon Book Group - a monthly book discussion group for people from the Prestwick area.

  • 2pm - Dominoes Group - a social group for people in the Edinburgh area who previously attended the in-person Edinburgh Dominoes group.

  • 4pm - Hamilton - friendly chat with other visually impaired people from in and around Hamilton.

 

Saturday

11am – Football Focus - whether you are missing the regular football season, or relieved it's over, this is a chance for you to get your footy fix for the week. Tell the group about favourite games, teams, and players with other visually impaired people from across Scotland. All teams welcome, we don’t judge!

  • There are also Book Groups in Prestwick and Troon, which meet monthly.

Our telephone groups are welcoming new members, so don’t be shy, join in and meet some great new people!
