Living Well with Sight Loss Parent Pathways is a free, informal course for parents and carers whose child has recently been diagnosed with vision impairment (VI).

It’s designed to give you the space to ask questions and discuss some of the important issues that you might have about raising a child who is blind or partially sighted.

Run as small group sessions, you’ll learn about a range of relevant topics, from early support around your child’s diagnosis to education and how to access specialist support for your child. Other topics include information about welfare benefits as well as the importance of play and social development for children with VI.

Parents will be able to meet and share experiences in a safe and supportive environment. After completion of the course, you will be offered the opportunity for a one to one discussion with your local RNIB Family Support Officer to discuss your individual situation and any additional support you might need.

The course is delivered by video call over a six-week period. Sessions will last for between an hour and 90 minutes. An accompanying Parent Pack workbook will be provided to record any useful information from the course.
