Living Well with Sight Loss Parent Pathways is a free and informal course for parents and carers of children and young people aged 14-25 who have recently been diagnosed with vision impairment.

The course is part of our Living Well with Sight Loss series and has been designed specifically for parents of young people aged 14-25. It will be run by RNIB’s Family Support Officers and provide information on a range of topics, as well as give you the opportunity to ask questions and learn from the experiences of other parents.

Run as small group sessions, you’ll learn about a range of relevant topics, including early support around your child’s diagnosis, welfare benefits, education and how to access specialist support.

Parents will be able to meet and share experiences in a safe and supportive environment. After completion of the course, you will be offered the opportunity for a one-to-one discussion with your local RNIB Family Support Officer to discuss your individual situation and any additional support you might need.

The course is delivered by video call over a four-week period. Sessions will last for between an hour and 90 minutes. An accompanying Parent Pack workbook will be provided to record any useful information from the course.

The content of this course has been adapted specifically for parents of young people aged 14 – 25.
