Living Well with Sight Loss Parent Pathways (part of RNIB’s Living Well with Sight Loss series) is a free, informal course for parents and carers whose child has recently been diagnosed with vision impairment (VI).

It’s designed to give you the space to ask questions and discuss some of the important issues that you might have about raising a child or young person who is blind or partially sighted.

Run as small group sessions, you’ll learn about a range of relevant topics, including early support around your child’s diagnosis, welfare benefits, education and how to access specialist support.

Parents will be able to meet and share experiences in a safe and supportive environment. After completion of the course, you will be offered the opportunity for a one to one discussion with your local RNIB Family Support Officer to discuss your individual situation and any additional support you might need.

The course is delivered by video call over a four-week period. Sessions will last for between an hour and 90 minutes. An accompanying Parent Pack workbook will be provided to record any useful information from the course.

The content of this course has been adapted specifically for parents of young people aged 14 and over.
