Volunteer for The Big Help Out with RNIB

RNIB is looking for new volunteers as we join thousands of organisations by giving more people a chance to experience volunteering and make a difference.

Anyone can join in The Big Help Out, including existing volunteers and RNIB staff. It’s a great way to get involved for the first time. Please share the message with your friends and family.

We’re looking for people to help us reach and support more people with sight loss. Big Help Out opportunities will be available again in 2024.

Matt Stringer, RNIB’s CEO, said this is a great opportunity: “We’re proud to involve volunteers in our work at RNIB and are delighted to be taking part in the Big Help Out, so we can involve more people.

“By pledging to find out more and signing up to volunteer, you could help us to offer support to more people, assistance with their devices and tech and help us as we continue to challenge the views of what it means to be blind and partially sighted.”

Alongside the opportunities to volunteer with other organisations as part of The Big Help Out, RNIB is offering people the chance to get involved with its Talk and Support telephone groups, find out more about volunteering with our Technology for Life team (Living with sight loss) and our social change activity (See the person, not the sight loss).

“It just brightens up a bad day to volunteer!”

RNIB Talk and Support volunteers Huda and Alia have told us why volunteering makes a big difference to everyone involved.

The sisters, who are studying Optometry, are Telephone Group Facilitators for RNIB’s Talk and Support groups, which connect people with sight loss around shared interests and enthusiasms.

We will offer Big Help Out opportunities again in 2024. In 2023 we offered:

Light bytes

One-hour telephone taster
