Description
RNIB’s Research and Insight team is looking for 2-3 blind and partially sighted people to pilot a new volunteering opportunity.
As a Research Champion, you will:
Use your lived experience of sight loss and past participation in research activities to help improve our participants’ experiences of being involved in our research programmes;
Provide feedback on your experience of volunteering with us as part of the pilot and to review how we improve this opportunity for future Research Champions;
Be directly involved with our Voice of the Customer research programme, helping us with planning and launching our next research topic which will be on Eye Care in the Community.
What you’ll gain from the role:
Access behind the scenes of RNIB’s Voice of the Customer Research Programme, helping the team with designing focus group and survey questions, recruitment of participants, and other tasks;
An understanding of different research techniques such as qualitative and quantitative data and how we analyse insight gathered through our focus groups and surveys;
Opportunities to participate in team training and development sessions.

This is a home-based role open to anyone across the UK. There may be possible travel opportunities to attend in-person meetings with the team. You will need access to your own tablet or laptop to access emails and documents. You’ll also need access to the internet to join meetings via Microsoft Teams. If the pilot is successful, there’ll be an opportunity to extend the role.

What skills and experience are needed?
- • This role is ringfenced for blind and partially sighted people. • Experience of taking part and sharing own lived experience in regular research surveys and focus groups and/or experience in carrying out research. • Good understanding of Microsoft packages especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
