If you’re a volunteer with sight loss and you’re looking for new opportunities to get involved with our work, why not join our new Connect Voices Facebook group like Andy.
“Hi, I'm Andy, I’m a RNIB volunteer in Peterborough and I'm also a member of Connect Voices. My sight impairment is a result of diabetic retinopathy.
I recently have been involved with RNIB’s focus groups about living with sight loss during lockdown. When I heard about the focus groups, I thought that I may be of some use as a sight impaired person with something to say and being able to listen to others who have similar impairments. I have noticed how difficult life can be for people with sight loss in all aspects of living and I care passionately about the issues that affect us. I was given a voice with the other members of my focus group who were from all over the UK, and I believe our thoughts will be used effectively in RNIB’s work and campaigns during and after lockdown.
Once the focus groups finished, I asked how else I could get involved and it was suggested I join Connect Voices. This is an online group where blind and partially sighted people can contribute to RNIB’s work. I have noticed that there are always opportunities where I can be involved, be it surveys or assisting with research or campaigns”.
