How we’re influencing the UK Government’s "Keep Britain Working" review

The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) recently hosted an employment roundtable, in our London office, bringing together colleagues from nine national disability charities in the Disability Charities Consortium (DCC), employers, and the team running the UK Government’s independent review on inclusive employment, to discuss strategies for recruiting and retaining disabled people and those with long-term health conditions.

Blind Edinburgh Man Named Young Volunteer of the Year

Daryl Stewart (23), a long-standing volunteer with sight loss charity RNIB Scotland, has been awarded the Special Recognition Award for Young Volunteer of the Year at the 2025 Inspiring Volunteer Awards, run by Volunteer Edinburgh.

Lucille Franks' Story

Lucille Franks, age 53, has Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) and cataracts, having been diagnosed with RP in her 40s. She lives with her husband and two teenage daughters. Lucille explains how she has received vital assistance from RNIB’s benefits team to secure financial support, and how she’s trying to manage the household with the rising living costs.
