A private hire taxi company has been fined by Preston Magistrates' Court, after refusing a passenger travelling with a guide dog.

Eye Work Too programme helps more people with sight loss gain work experience

In Northern Ireland, there are an estimated 53,500 people living with sight loss, of which 11,600 are of working age. Whilst overall employment figures are at a high, and rates of employment for people with disabilities as a group are on the increase, this is unfortunately not the case for blind and partially sighted people.

Bus timetable bid voted down

Scotland's leading sight loss charity has expressed its disappointment that a key move to improve the accessibility of transport for blind and partially sighted people was narrowly rejected six votes to five votes by the Scottish Parliament's Rural Economy and Connectivity Committee.

New figures, launched today, show that three-quarters of guide dog owners (76 per cent) have been illegally turned away by businesses and services, such as taxis, restaurants, shops, cafes, hotels and pubs.

We're challenging Hampshire County Council cuts

Hampshire County Council cuts funding for children with special education needs. We are urgently calling on the Education Secretary Damian Hinds to challenge Hampshire County Council's decision, and for SEND funding to be included in the Government's next spending review so every child with a vision impairment can access the same level of education as their peers.
